The general misconception in the medical community is that bracing does not work for Infantile scoliosis and that the only effective non-surgical treatment is the Mehta casting system. However, bracing done correctly, like with The Infantile LA Brace can be very effective. Mehta casting requires a new cast be applied every 2-4 months to accommodate growth. Likewise The Infantile LA Brace requires multiple appointments to accommodate rapid changes in growth. Infants are seen every 6-10 weeks for growth adjustments to the brace and the brace replaced every 6-8 months.
Patient 1: As seen with these x-rays of Ariana, great results are achievable. Her 55 degree curve has corrected almost to neutral (6 degrees) in her LA Infantile scoliosis brace and she now has a very good prognosis.
